According to reports, Tucker Carlson received over 40,000 hours of footage from Kevin McCarthy's January 2021 rally on Capitol Hill.
The producers of Tucker Carlson's show were on Capitol Hill recently to look through the footage captured during the event. Some of the clips will be aired on the program in the near future.
According to Carlson, there was no legitimate reason for the footage to remain secret.
He stated that if there was a question that the public wanted to know, the footage would show it. He also said that he couldn't understand why anyone would be bothered by the footage.
The process for obtaining the footage began in early February, when a representative of McCarthy approached the producers of Tucker Carlson's program.
Some conservative activists claimed that McCarthy's decision to share the footage with Tucker Carlson was an indication that he doesn't intend to release the whole footage to the public.
In an interview, McCarthy stated that he wanted to be thoughtful about the footage. However, he added that he would share it with Tucker Carlson.
During his interview, McCarthy stated the public should be allowed to see what occurred on the day of the rally. He also noted that he watched how Nancy Pelosi handled the situation. According to him, the American people should not be subjected to political reports.
In 2022, a group of Republican members of the House demanded the release of all the footage from the event to ensure that the people who were arrested on the day were fairly tried.
In response, a group of 23 Republican members of the House sent a letter to William Walker, the chairman of the Capitol Police Board, urging him to release the footage.
Lou Gohmert, a member of the House, stated that the lack of transparency regarding the footage was a major issue with the Department of Justice.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is McCarthy's ally, revealed on Monday that the footage would be made available to everyone who was charged with a crime.
J6 video tapes will also be available for all J6 defendants.
