The Republican National Committee, the National Republican Congressional Committee, and other organizations have recently accused Leigh Chapman, the acting Secretary of State for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, of forcing county election boards to count unsigned mail-in ballots in a court filing.
The case asserts that this is a clear violation of a ruling made by the Supreme Court, which held that undated ballots could not be tallied in accordance with the statutes of the state. It is anticipated that the case will once more make its way to the Supreme Court of the United States. After the case has been dismissed by the state's Supreme Court, it will be eligible for consideration by the United States Supreme Court.
This comes at a time when the fight for the Senate in Pennsylvania is quite close. The most recent polls place Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz and Democrat John Fetterman in a statistical dead heat. Oz is currently in the lead by a margin of 2.7%, as shown in a poll conducted and published by Real Clear Politics this week.
