Rivian just unveiled their new R1T Quad electric pickup truck with a jaw-dropping 1025 horsepower. This monster can hit 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds and travel up to 400 miles on a single charge. While the performance numbers sound impressive, the real question is who can actually afford this thing.
The R1T Quad starts at around $120,000, putting it well out of reach for most hardworking American families. This is another luxury toy for wealthy coastal elites who want to virtue signal about the environment. Meanwhile, regular folks are still struggling to fill up their gas tanks and put food on the table.
The timing couldn’t be worse for Rivian to release such an expensive vehicle. Working families are being crushed by inflation and high energy costs under the current administration. But wealthy liberals can drop six figures on an electric truck and feel good about themselves while the rest of us pay the bills.
Don’t forget that companies like Rivian benefit from massive government subsidies and tax credits. Your tax dollars are helping subsidize luxury vehicles for people who don’t need the help. These EV handouts are just another way to transfer wealth from working Americans to the wealthy elite.
The truck comes with fancy features like a “kick turn” that lets it spin in circles and hands-free driving technology. But what happens when you’re stuck in rural America with no charging stations for hundreds of miles. Good luck getting your expensive electric truck home when the battery dies.
Real American truck owners know that nothing beats the reliability of a gas-powered F-150 or Silverado. These proven workhorses have been hauling America’s cargo and supporting our economy for generations. They don’t need special charging stations or government handouts to get the job done.
At least Rivian is trying to build these trucks in America with American workers. That’s more than we can say for many other companies that have shipped our manufacturing jobs overseas. American innovation and manufacturing should be celebrated when it happens.
But let’s be honest about what this really represents. While elites drive around in their $120,000 electric trucks, regular Americans are being told to sacrifice and pay more for everything. This is just another example of how out of touch the wealthy class has become with everyday working people.
