Another entitled government lawyer thinks she’s above the law. Rhode Island prosecutor Devon Flanagan got herself arrested at a Newport restaurant last week after refusing to leave. The whole embarrassing scene was caught on police body cameras for the world to see.
Flanagan kept telling the cops “I’m an AG” like that should get her special treatment. She even demanded officers turn off their body cameras, claiming it was “protocol” when citizens ask. That’s not how the law works, lady.
The restaurant called police because they wanted her gone. When officers arrived, Flanagan and her friend were causing problems and wouldn’t leave. The business owners had every right to kick them out.
Instead of just walking away like any decent person would do, this government lawyer acted like she owned the place. She kept name-dropping her job title and trying to intimidate the officers. Her friend got arrested too and faces even more charges for resisting arrest.
This is exactly what’s wrong with our government today. Too many bureaucrats think they’re better than regular Americans. They believe different rules apply to them because they work for the state.
The police officers did their job perfectly. They stayed professional while this entitled prosecutor made a fool of herself. Thank goodness for body cameras that show the truth about what really happened.
Attorney General Peter Neronha says he’s reviewing the incident and considering an unpaid suspension. That’s not nearly enough punishment for this kind of behavior. Any regular citizen would face serious consequences for acting this way.
This story shows why we need to drain the swamp at every level of government. These arrogant officials need to learn they serve the people, not the other way around. It’s time to hold them accountable for their actions.
