Heavy storms drenched Texas around July 4th, dropping up to 18 inches of rain. This caused terrible flash floods, especially in the Texas Hill Country. President Trump quickly declared a major disaster. He sent federal help right away.
Secretary Kristi Noem walked through the flooded Camp Mystic cabins. That’s where many little girls tragically died. She described seeing parents having to identify their children’s bodies. It’s every parent’s worst nightmare, something no parent should ever face.
First responders worked nonstop to rescue people. The Coast Guard saved over 165 flood victims using helicopters and planes with thermal cameras. They’re still searching for missing girls and a camp counselor. At least 27 campers and counselors died in this tragedy.
Secretary Noem said we must remember God created us to serve each other. She saw God’s hand in saving many lives. This disaster shows how Americans step up to help neighbors in need. Faith and community are our strength during dark times.
FEMA is now fully activated across Texas. They’re working with state and local leaders to help recovery efforts. Secretary Noem promised Texas will get every resource needed. The Trump administration stands with Texans during this painful crisis.
Over 100 people died across Texas from these floods. Most deaths happened in Kerr County where the flooding hit hardest. A wall of water swept through camps and homes along the Guadalupe River before dawn on July 4th. Many were pulled from their beds and carried miles away.
