Why Big Tech Should Be Deathly Afraid Of House Republicans

Ohio's Jim Jordan, a conservative Republican, will chair a new House committee that will investigate the interactions between tech companies and the White House, according to Axios.

The committee will look into the actions of the Biden administration, which reportedly pressured social media platforms to remove conservative content.

The committee's investigation is reportedly related to Elon Musk's alleged Twitter Files.

Since he took over Twitter in October, Musk has reportedly leaked private conversations and internal documents from the company's past management.

Last week, Kevin McCarthy was elected as the new House speaker. He supported the creation of the select committee when he was looking for votes from conservative members.

According to Axios, the House committee will subpoena the White House for documents related to the interactions between the tech industry and the administration.

Musk released information that he claimed showed that the Biden administration worked with Twitter to suppress conservative voices, including those related to Hunter Biden, the former first son.

In December, "Jordan stated that the Twitter Files revealed that the FBI maintained a constant relationship with the company."

In response, Jordan wrote a letter to Christopher Wray, the FBI's director, asking for information about the agency's role in preventing conservative voices from being heard on Twitter.

According to Axios, the select committee will follow a procedure that includes subpoenas if necessary.

The House panel also will probe:

Anthony Fauci, who is an expert on disinformation and COVID, discussed his work with the Justice Department and school boards. He also talked about the department's failure to establish a clear policy on disinformation.

Despite the challenges that the Senate and former Vice President Joe Biden could present, McCarthy vowed to be an aggressive leader in the House.

"After being elected as the House speaker, McCarthy promised to pass bills that will fix the country's problems, such as immigration and energy policies."

As the new speaker, McCarthy said that he would also tackle the long-term challenges of the country, such as the rising debt and the rise China's Communist Party.

The House Committee on Reform and Oversight will be chaired by Kentucky's James Comer.
