Controversy: A Biden Climate Change Appointee Studied In A CCP-Controlled University

President Biden's newest climate appointment studied at a CCP-controlled institution that does PLA research.

Dr. Yue (Nina) Chen will create "climate risk management frameworks for the federal banking system."   Chen studied chemical engineering at Tsinghua University, which one think tank calls" very high risk" due to its "high level of defence research and alleged involvement in cyberattacks" for the Chinese military.

Chen is a proponent of "environmental, social, and governance" standards, a socially progressive approach to investment. Under ESG, investment managers and insurers analyze firms' risk based on their diversity and climate change objectives. Chen talked last year about forcing industry to "leave fossil fuels behind" and focus their capital "toward solving the climate crisis."

Chen is not Biden's first bank regulator candidate to attend a Communist-run institution. Saule Omarova got a "Lenin scholarship" at Moscow State University in the late 1980s. After Democratic senators announced they would oppose Omarova's confirmation, the White House withdrew her candidacy. Omarova wants to "starve" fossil fuel businesses of money.

Consumers' Research executive director Will Hild was concerned about Chen's CCP training. Her nomination is part of Biden's push for "environmental, social, and governance" objectives at government agencies, he added.
