“How can I help you?” the girl aged 22 victim who asked the man as he approached the counter of the Cricket Wireless shop at 43rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road around 5 p.m., according to KSAZ-TV.
As the victim shouted for her life and pleaded with him to stop, the man abruptly struck her, inflicting a total of 16 blows and nine stomps to her skull.
According to authorities, after the incident, the man walked to the backside of shop and grabbed many products as well as cash. According to KSAZ, the she was lucky to escape to nearby shop to ask for assistance, but the culprit escaped before cops arrived.
After having to release security video of the incident, police reported many suggestions about the perpetrator’s identity, according to the station, and thirty three year aged Michael Cook was apprehended after 3 days.
Cook is charged with criminal, trespassing, robbery, ,assault, and kidnapping, according to KSAZ, and was taken into Maricopa Jail Cell on Wednesday.
According to the station, Cook’s mother told police that her son was just not taking his schizophrenia meds, and that Cook heard voices in his brain ordering him to commit suicide, so he ended up taking his rage out on the person.
Cook reportedly acknowledged to taking 3 smartphones and selling 2 of them for heroin and methamphetamine, according to court documents obtained by KSAZ.
A tearful victim describes the act as “evil.”
Maria Coronado told the channel on Wednesday that the man – a regular customer had been following her to the store the all day and attacked her till she was alone.
Coronado told KSAZ that “you could just hear me screaming.” “It just breaks my heart that no matter what I did — I plead[ed] with him, I even told him I was pregnant just to see if maybe with that he would stop, and he didn’t. He just kept on going and going and going. “
She also revealed to the channel that she has “From my brow to my nose, I had multiple stitches. I have two cracked nose bones, and my face has definitely been subjected to a great deal of damage.”

Coronado has been added to KSAZ. She was terrified and worried that if she retaliated, the man might murder her, so she labelled the attack “evil.”
“He knew what he was doing,” she added to the station. “This was premeditated. He came four times the whole day, just seeing if there [were] customers, if I was alone.” Coronado said days before the attack, the man “literally told a manager, ‘I’m going to come back and kill you.'”
Coronado told KSAZ that no one had reported the man’s previous threats.
“If they would have said something, they probably would have caught him and this wouldn’t have occurred,” she told the station, adding that she doesn’t want to return to work: “It’s scary… We can’t be on our own.”
