Putin knows that Ukrainians are running out of soldiers and their people want peace talks. He’s playing the waiting game while our tax dollars keep flowing overseas instead of fixing problems here at home.
Trump met with Putin in Alaska on August 15th to try to end this disaster. Unlike the warmongers in Washington, Trump understands that America needs to put its own interests first. The previous administration created this mess by poking the Russian bear for years. Now Trump has to clean up another foreign policy nightmare left by the swamp.
Putin’s demands are still the same harsh terms he laid out over a year ago. Russia wants to keep the land it has grabbed and make sure Ukraine never joins NATO. Putin also wants all the sanctions dropped and no Western troops protecting Ukraine. These aren’t reasonable peace terms, but they show Putin thinks he holds all the cards right now.
The truth is that Ukraine is losing this war badly. Their army is falling apart and their power grid is destroyed. Young Ukrainian men don’t want to fight anymore because they see the writing on the wall. Meanwhile, Russia keeps grinding forward while America keeps writing blank checks to a losing cause.
Putin believes he can outlast Western support because he’s seen how quickly Americans lose interest in foreign wars. He watched us run from Afghanistan in shame and thinks the same thing will happen in Ukraine. The Russian leader is patient and ruthless, and he’s willing to sacrifice as many lives as it takes to get what he wants.
Trump’s peace plan may be our only hope to end this bloodbath before it gets worse. The warmongers want to keep fighting until the last Ukrainian, but that’s not America’s fight. We need a president who puts American workers before Ukrainian oligarchs and American soldiers before foreign conflicts.
The bottom line is simple: Putin wants to rebuild the Russian empire, and Ukraine is just the first step. But America can’t be the world’s policeman forever, especially when our own country is falling apart. It’s time to make a deal and bring our focus back home where it belongs.
