Trump’s lawyer Alejandro Brito says the Times went after Trump with actual malice. They published false stories knowing they were lies. The newspaper tried to destroy Trump’s reputation on purpose.
The lawsuit targets several hit pieces the Times wrote during the 2024 election. They claimed Trump built his fortune through fraud, which is completely false. They also pushed the lie that Trump is a fascist by quoting disgraced General John Kelly.
The Times even tried to steal credit from Trump for making The Apprentice a huge success. They said producer Mark Burnett deserved the credit instead of Trump. This shows how desperate the media is to tear down everything Trump touches.
Trump called the New York Times a mouthpiece for the radical left Democrat Party. He said they have been allowed to lie and smear him for far too long. Now he is making them pay the price for their dishonest reporting.
This is not Trump’s first victory against fake news outlets. ABC News already paid him $15 million to settle a defamation case. CBS and other networks are also facing lawsuits from the President.
The Times responded by calling the lawsuit meritless and claiming it hurts free speech. This is typical liberal nonsense from a paper that has abandoned real journalism. They cannot hide behind the First Amendment when they knowingly publish lies.
