Trump Scores Diplomatic Win, Hostage Talks Show Real Progress

President Trump told the nation this week that the meetings aimed at freeing hostages from Hamas “seem to be working,” and he meant business — not the limp platitudes we got from the previous administration. His hands-on approach, pushing technical talks and moving envoys, is producing real momentum toward getting Americans and Israelis home.

Washington has sent high-level envoys to Egypt and reconvened technical teams to hammer out the logistics of a phased hostage release and a temporary halt in the bloodshed. These are the kind of practical, results-driven negotiations conservatives respect: quiet diplomacy backed by unmistakable will.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio and others report that Hamas has at least agreed in principle to elements of a Trump-crafted framework, and the remaining work is procedural — organizing exchanges and guaranteeing safety for released captives. That’s the difference between chest-thumping rhetoric and the kind of organized pressure that actually brings people home.

Don’t forget that President Trump has also been explicit with his threats: he’s warned Hamas in plain language that continued hostage-taking won’t be tolerated, and he has told Israel it will have what it needs to finish the job if diplomacy fails. That mix of stern diplomacy and credible force is exactly what deters tyrants and terror groups.

Meanwhile, Trump has leaned on partners and dispatched trusted aides to ensure the plan moves forward, even as hostile media and left-wing appeasers wring their hands and preemptively criticize any tough action. The president’s willingness to couple negotiation with strength — including resupplying Israel where necessary — underscores a patriotic priority: American lives and our staunch ally must come first.

Hardworking Americans should cheer an administration that refuses to coddle terror and instead delivers results. These meetings may not be glamorous, but they’re working, and that’s what matters when babies, moms, dads, and soldiers are trapped. Stay alert, back firm diplomacy, and demand that Washington keep pressing until every hostage is home.
