Trump Axes Education Dept, Liberates Schools from DC Shackles

President Trump took bold action this week to put American education back on track by signing an executive order to dismantle the federal Department of Education. Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters praised the move, calling it a historic step toward freeing schools from Washington bureaucrats.

Trump’s order starts the process of shrinking the federal education machine, cutting staff by half and returning power to local communities. Walters said this will save taxpayer money and let states focus on real learning instead of political agendas. He believes Oklahoma’s schools will improve now that they aren’t forced to follow radical union rules or promote divisive ideas.

Democrats and teachers’ unions quickly attacked the decision, claiming it would hurt students. But Walters fired back, arguing the Education Department failed kids for decades. Test scores kept dropping while Washington wasted billions on red tape. Now states can spend those funds on classrooms instead of paper-pushers.

The plan keeps student loans and disability protections in place for now but shifts control away from Washington. Trump promised to eventually move all education decisions to the states, where parents and local leaders can make the rules. Walters has already shown this works. In Oklahoma, he slashed state-level bureaucracy and used the savings to pay teachers more and start after-school tutoring.

Walters has been a strong ally in Trump’s fight to restore American values. He required Bibles in every classroom and added lessons about the 2020 election irregularities. The left called it “indoctrination,” but Walters says students deserve facts, not fairy tales. They need to question everything, including why vote counts suddenly stopped in key cities.

The Oklahoma leader also partnered with singer Lee Greenwood to donate special “God Bless the USA” Bibles to schools. These include the Constitution and Declaration of Independence, reminding kids of America’s Christian roots. Walters said schools should teach history honestly, not hide the faith of heroes like George Washington.

Teachers’ unions and liberal politicians are suing to stop Trump’s order, but Walters isn’t backing down. He says parents want schools focused on reading and math, not gender ideology or critical race theory. With federal meddling gone, states can finally put kids first instead of union bosses.

This executive order marks a turning point. After years of failure, Trump and Walters are draining the swamp and giving power back to the people. Oklahoma’s reforms prove local control works. Now every state can follow their lead and Make American Education Great Again.
