‘The Five’ reacts to apocalyptic flash floods in Texas

Deadly floods hit Central Texas hard over the Fourth of July weekend. Water rose fast in the Hill Country while families were sleeping. At least 95 people died, and dozens are still missing. Whole communities got washed away in just hours.

The Guadalupe River jumped almost 30 feet overnight. Rain poured down 11 inches in some places before anyone knew what was coming. This river swallowed homes and roads without warning. Families had no chance to escape the rising water.

Tragedy struck a Christian summer camp near Hunt. More than 20 little girls went missing when floodwaters swept through. Rescue teams are still searching for these children days later. Our hearts break for these innocent souls lost in the storm.

Officials admit they had no warning system ready. Forecasters didn’t predict this much rain would fall so fast. Local leaders say they were completely blindsided. This failure cost lives and destroyed neighborhoods.

Washington finally stepped in after the disaster. President Trump approved emergency aid for Texas families. This help will provide shelter and fix broken homes. But it never should have come to this.

Central Texas floods keep happening again and again. Yet the warning systems stay broken year after year. Our leaders keep talking without fixing anything. This negligence is unacceptable for American families.

We need real solutions, not empty promises. Cut the red tape and build proper flood protections. Put local leaders in charge, not distant bureaucrats. Texas knows how to take care of its own people.

Texas will rebuild stronger than before. Neighbors are rescuing neighbors off rooftops right now. This is the American spirit Washington forgot. We pull together when disaster strikes.
