Texas Flood Tragedy: 13 Dead and Families Torn Apart on July 4th

Tragic flooding has devastated Texas over the holiday weekend. At least 13 people are dead after flash floods slammed the Texas Hill Country. Many more are still missing, including children from Camp Mystic.

Texas leaders are working around the clock on search and rescue. Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick promised no effort will be spared to find every missing child. Over 500 first responders are on the ground right now. They have seven helicopters searching day and night.

The floods hit hard during America’s celebration of freedom. Families were torn apart on what should have been a joyful Fourth of July. Our hearts break for parents waiting helplessly for news about their children. This disaster shows how quickly nature can turn on us.

Patrick made a firm promise to those parents. He said officials will turn over every rock and search every tree to find their daughters. The state will not rest until every missing child is brought home. That’s the Texas spirit—leaving no one behind.

Faith remains our anchor in this storm. Patrick asked all Americans to pray for these families. In tough times, we turn to God for strength and comfort. Texans know that prayer moves mountains when government can only do so much.

The response shows Texas at its best. Law enforcement from across the region self-deployed to help. They didn’t wait for orders—they saw neighbors in need and acted. That’s real American courage, not the weak talk from bureaucrats in Washington.

Recovery will be long and hard. But Texans are tough people who rebuild stronger. We’ve faced hurricanes, wildfires, and now floods—and we always come back. Our communities will unite to support these hurting families.

Forward we go, standing on the rock of faith. Texas will rise from these muddy waters because freedom-loving people don’t quit. Let this tragedy remind us to hold our loved ones close and thank God for every sunrise.
