Democrats are absolutely losing their minds over this common sense move. They are screaming about voter suppression and calling it the Trump-Abbott gerrymander. These are the same people who spent years rigging maps in blue states like California and New York.
The Department of Justice under Trump has already identified the problem districts in Texas. Four so-called coalition districts were leftover from unconstitutional race-based gerrymandering from the past. The DOJ made it clear these districts violate federal law and must be fixed.
California Democrats are now threatening to redraw their own maps in response to Texas. This proves they have been playing dirty for years and only care about power. When Republicans fight back using the same tactics, suddenly Democrats want to cry foul.
The battle for Congress in 2026 starts right now with these redistricting fights. Republicans currently hold a narrow majority in the House and every seat matters. Texas could deliver five more conservative voices to Washington if they get this done.
