In response to Swalwell’s tweet, Cruz said that the congressman was a liar when he wasn’t sleeping with Chinese spies. He went on to say that he was defending the right of Americans to speak out against authoritarian policies.
After Swalwell challenged Cruz, the Texas Senator responded with a humorous response. He referred to the congressman’s recent controversy about his alleged ties with Chinese spies. With a great response, Cruz shut down the California politician.
The response gave both his opponents and supporters a line they could hardly contain. It was posted between memes about Trump 2024 and attacks on Swalwell. The reaction to this one-liner added fuel to the ongoing culture war.
