Senate Hearing Exposes Left’s War on Biology and Women’s Health

A shocking exchange at the Senate HELP Committee hearing laid bare what many Americans already suspect: the radical left has pushed political ideology into medicine until basic biological facts become uncomfortable to defend. During a hearing titled “Protecting Women: Exposing the Dangers of Chemical Abortion Drugs,” Dr. Nisha Verma repeatedly declined to give a direct answer when asked whether men can get pregnant, producing a scene that was part baffling and part theatrical.

Senator Josh Hawley pressed the witness for a simple yes-or-no affirmation of biological reality, and the witness dodged, calling the question a “political tool” and insisting she represents patients with different identities. That refusal to acknowledge the foundational facts of sex and reproduction should unsettle every parent and every taxpayer who expects hearings about women’s health to prioritize truth and safety over trend-driven ideology.

The hearing wasn’t just theater — it was about the safety of mifepristone and the consequences of letting powerful agencies loosen safeguards. Another physician at the hearing warned of bleeding, infection, hemorrhage, and other serious harms associated with chemical abortion, underscoring that this is a medical debate with real risks, not a spectacle for cable news.

That a supposedly scientific witness would refuse to defend biological sex while testifying on drug safety is more than hypocrisy; it is a dereliction of professional duty. Conservatives have long warned that when woke ideology seeps into credentialed institutions, it corrodes public trust, and today’s stunt in the Dirksen building was a textbook example of that corrosion at work.

Beyond the gaslighting over basic biology, witnesses laid out troubling practical problems: the removal of in-person dispensing requirements has made mifepristone available through the mail nationwide, opening the door to abuse, fraud, and situations where women are coerced or forced to take the drug. State attorneys general and medical professionals testified that mail-order distribution circumvents state protections and makes enforcement and safety monitoring much harder.

Pro-life leaders and conservative legal advocates responded immediately, calling for a thorough, expedited review of the drug and a restoration of commonsense safeguards like in-person evaluation. If our regulators and elected officials fail to act, we will continue to see a culture that privileges ideology over patient safety and allows dangerous loopholes to persist.

This is a moment for patriots who care about truth, women’s health, and the rule of law to speak up. We should demand that hearings remain about facts and protection, not woke talking points, and insist that our medical system be rebuilt around objective science and the interests of mothers and children.
