Sen. Dave McCormick’s recent appearance on Saturday Agenda was a breath of fresh air for anyone who believes in law and order. He didn’t mince words: dehumanizing language toward ICE and federal agents, repeated by politicians and pundits, has real-world consequences and makes a dangerous job even harder for the men and women putting their lives on the line to enforce our laws.
That warning is not alarmism — it’s common sense backed by events. When activists, celebrities and some elected officials ratchet up the rhetoric and paint law enforcement as monsters, it lowers the bar for violence and emboldens the worst actors among the fringe, a trend conservatives have rightly been sounding the alarm about for months.
McCormick’s message was simple and patriotic: we can defend the rule of law while still demanding accountability and transparency. The Biden-era chaos and media-driven hysteria around ICE operations have turned enforcement into a political spectacle, and Washington would do well to cool the rhetoric and back the people doing the job.
He also didn’t forget the forgotten Americans in rural towns who get lost in the coastal media circus. McCormick highlighted the need to shore up rural hospitals and protect access to care, reminding Washington that strong communities at home are part of national strength — something Democrats have too often ignored while grandstanding.
On foreign policy, McCormick’s sober tone about threats like Iran showed he understands strength matters overseas as much as at home. Conservatives should welcome senators who stand with freedom-loving Iranians and who urge a firm policy to confront regimes that target Americans and regional stability.
If America is to remain safe and prosperous, we need more leaders who speak plainly like McCormick — defending law enforcement, defending rural America, and defending our interests abroad. The choice is clear: either we tolerate a toxic, dehumanizing narrative that fuels chaos, or we stand up for common-sense governance and the working families who keep this country going.
