Iryna Zarutska, just 23 years old, was brutally stabbed to death on a Charlotte train by a violent repeat offender named Decarlos Brown Jr.
This tragedy was completely preventable. Brown had a long history of arrests, prison time, and dangerous mental health episodes. Yet liberal officials in Charlotte kept letting him walk free to terrorize innocent people. Their soft-on-crime policies killed this brave young woman.
Zarutska fled the war in Ukraine hoping to build a better life in America. She loved animals and dreamed of becoming a veterinary assistant. She was everything good about the American dream. But Democrat-run Charlotte failed to protect her from a known dangerous criminal.
The attack happened on August 22nd on a packed train. Security video shows Brown sitting behind Zarutska and stabbing her without warning. She was just sitting there with headphones on, bothering nobody. This monster destroyed an innocent life for no reason at all.
Brown is a 34-year-old repeat offender with schizophrenia who has been arrested over and over again. He had been calling 911 from hospitals and causing chaos for months. Any reasonable person could see he was a walking time bomb waiting to explode.
Attorney General Pam Bondi is finally taking action where local Democrats failed. She charged Brown with federal murder and is seeking the death penalty. Bondi correctly blamed this killing on failed soft-on-crime policies that put criminals before innocent victims.
