Rep. Luna Defends Trump’s National Guard Move on Watters Show

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna made a powerful and unambiguous case on Jesse Watters Primetime on November 28, 2025, praising the Trump administration’s decision to deploy the National Guard to Washington, D.C., and calling Democratic criticism “unacceptable.” Her comments reflected what millions of Americans already know: public safety comes before political theater, and Democrats’ reflexive attacks on law-and-order efforts are dangerously out of touch with the concerns of everyday citizens.

President Trump invoked emergency powers and effectively federalized control of the Metropolitan Police Department on August 11, 2025, moving National Guard troops and federal law enforcement into the city to confront a spike in violent crime. The move was historic and controversial, but it was a decisive response to a mounting public-safety crisis that local officials had failed to solve.

The administration has touted concrete results from the operation, reporting significant drops in violent crime and homicides in the weeks after federal forces took action, along with hundreds of arrests in targeted operations. Those outcomes are the only metric that matters to families worried about walking home at night or dropping their kids off at school, and they vindicate the choice to put boots on the ground.

Predictably, the partisan left responded with lawsuits aimed at pulling federal resources out of the city, and a federal judge did issue an order to end the deployment that is currently stayed pending appeal. Judicial review is part of our system, but it should not become a cudgel that allows city elites to prioritize political purity over public safety while neighborhoods suffer.

Tragically, the mission has not been without risk; an ambush that left a National Guard member killed exposed the dangers these troops face while protecting civilians, underscoring the bravery of those who answered the call. Instead of using that tragedy to score cheap political points, Democrats should be thanking these patriots and supporting policies that keep Americans safe.

It is entirely reasonable, as Rep. Luna insisted, to defend the use of federal assets when mayors and city councils have abdicated responsibility and crime surges. The American people are exhausted by soft-on-crime politics and need leaders who will act, not lecture, and Luna’s straight talk on national television is the kind of leadership voters rewarded in the last election.

Now is the time for conservatives, patriots, and every law-abiding citizen to stand behind sensible enforcement and federal support where local governance has failed. We should demand accountability from Democratic officials who complain about National Guard patrols while neighborhoods remain unsafe, and we should continue pushing for policies that restore safety and order to our streets.
