Russia just launched a massive drone attack on one of America’s closest allies. On September 9th, Putin sent at least 19 military drones into Poland’s airspace in a brazen act of aggression. This is the first direct attack on NATO territory since World War Two.
Poland’s brave pilots shot down eight of these Russian war machines before they could do more damage. Dutch and other NATO fighters rushed to help our Polish friends defend their homeland. One drone even crashed into a Polish family’s home, showing Putin doesn’t care about innocent lives.
This attack happened just days after President Trump met with Poland’s leader at the White House. Putin is clearly testing America and our NATO allies to see how we’ll respond. The timing is no coincidence – Russia wants to show it can strike anywhere.
Poland immediately called for emergency NATO meetings under Article 4. Prime Minister Donald Tusk called this a “large-scale provocation” by Moscow. Poland knows this wasn’t an accident – it was Putin sending a dangerous message to the free world.
Russia is already lying about the attack, claiming the drones weren’t theirs. They’re saying the drones came from Ukraine, which is total nonsense. This is exactly what we expect from Putin’s propaganda machine – deny, deflect, and deceive.
President Trump quickly warned Russia on social media, saying “What’s with Russia violating Poland’s airspace with drones? Here we go!” America needs strong leadership right now to stand with our Polish allies. We can’t let Putin think he can attack NATO countries without consequences.
Poland hosts 10,000 American troops and has been one of our most loyal partners. They’ve supported America through thick and thin, and now they need us to have their backs. An attack on Poland is an attack on America and all freedom-loving nations.
This drone assault shows Putin is getting more desperate and dangerous as his war in Ukraine fails. We must stand firm with Poland and show Russia that NATO Article 5 means something. America’s word and our alliances are what keep the world safe from tyrants like Putin.
