Pope Leo XIV’s First Test: Will He Restore Bishop Strickland?

The Catholic Church faces a crossroads with the election of Pope Leo XIV, the first American pontiff. Conservatives watch closely to see if he’ll reverse his predecessor’s progressive policies or double down on them. His handling of exiled Texas Bishop Joseph Strickland—a hero to traditionalists—has quickly become the litmus test for this papacy.

Liberals cheer Leo XIV’s promise to “build bridges,” but faithful Catholics remember his role in Strickland’s removal under Francis. The bishop was ousted for defending Biblical marriage and the sanctity of life against woke activism. If the new pope truly wants unity, he’ll start by restoring this persecuted shepherd to his flock.

LifeSiteNews co-founder John-Henry Westin argues Strickland’s reinstatement is the “number one sign” of whether Leo XIV will defend orthodoxy. Church insiders whisper the pope could make this move quietly through the Vatican bureaucracy any day. Every hour he delays deepens suspicions that he’s just Francis 2.0 in a different cassock.

Some conservatives note hopeful signs—Leo XIV chose a traditional papal name and hails from Chicago’s working-class roots. But his past as a Vatican diplomat raises red flags. Did he enable the deep-state cardinals who sabotaged traditional liturgy and persecuted doctrinal purists? The faithful demand answers, not more vague talk about “open arms.”

The Tridentine Mass ban, LGBT blessings, and climate fanaticism infected the Church under Francis. Now’s the time for bold action, not compromise. A real leader would fire radical bishops, restore the Latin Mass worldwide, and excommunicate politicians who support abortion. Weakness here would prove the globalists still control the Vatican.

Pope Leo XIV’s first words—“Peace be with all of you”—sound nice, but peace requires truth. You can’t make peace with sin or spiritual decay. True peace comes from crushing heresy and shepherding souls toward eternal life, not endless dialogue with secular destroyers.

America’s Catholics expected more from their countryman pope. They’re tired of leaders who apologize for the Faith instead of proclaiming it. If Leo XIV wants to make history, he’ll purge the Church of modernists and fake shepherds. If not, he’ll be remembered as the pope who lost the West.

This is no time for cautious diplomacy. The world is burning, souls are at stake, and the faithful are watching. Restore Bishop Strickland now, or admit the revolution won. Traditional Catholics didn’t fight this long to settle for another spineless bureaucrat in white.
