NPR’s boss Katherine Maher got a tough grilling from Republicans in Congress last week. The hearing showed just how out of touch NPR is with regular Americans. Taxpayers are tired of funding a news network that pushes a woke agenda instead of fair reporting.
Republicans like Jim Jordan slammed Maher over NPR’s shocking lack of balance. A whistleblower revealed that 87 editorial staffers in D.C. were registered Democrats—zero Republicans. Maher dodged the question, saying NPR doesn’t track voter registrations. But if true, it proves NPR is a Democrat echo chamber. How can they claim to be fair when their own team isn’t balanced?
NPR’s bias isn’t new. They ignored the Hunter Biden laptop story before the 2020 election, calling it a “distraction.” Now everyone knows that laptop exposed real corruption. NPR’s choice to bury the story helped Democrats. This isn’t journalism—it’s activism.
Maher’s past tweets didn’t help her case. She once claimed America is “addicted to white supremacy” and defended looting as a protest tactic. Those radical views don’t belong in a taxpayer-funded newsroom. Her smug responses made it clear she doesn’t care about fairness—only pushing leftist talking points.
Congress gives NPR millions every year, but conservatives are fed up. Why should hardworking Americans pay for news that hates their values? NPR serves coastal elites, not middle America. Rural areas get their news from local stations, but NPR’s big-city bias filters down everywhere.
PBS boss Paula Kerger faced questions too, but she handled them better. Unlike Maher, Kerger admitted mistakes, like a drag queen project mistakenly posted online. Still, PBS isn’t perfect. Both networks need strict oversight if they keep taking public money.
Many Republicans say it’s time to cut NPR off completely. They’ve had decades to fix their bias and failed. With so many news options today, NPR isn’t essential. Let them survive in the free market without taxpayer handouts.
This hearing proved NPR can’t be trusted. They lecture Americans about “truth” while hiding their own agenda. Conservatives want news that reflects all views, not just woke nonsense. Defunding NPR would save money and tell the media: stop disrespecting half the country.
