Newsom Fails Californians as Partisan Attacks Drown Out Fire Relief Efforts

Six months after the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, Governor Gavin Newsom continues failing Californians. Instead of fighting for fire relief funds, he’s wasting time attacking President Trump. His partisan priorities put politics before people.

Newsom signed state emergency bills allocating $2.5 billion for fire recovery back in February. That state money alone isn’t enough. Thousands remain displaced while rental costs skyrocket across Southern California.

Yet in June and July, Newsom held press conferences attacking Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill.” He called it a “moral failure” and spent energy attacking Republicans. His loud complaints did nothing to bring home federal dollars.

Newsom asked Washington for $40 billion in fire relief last February. The GOP-led House hasn’t moved that request forward. Instead of bridging the divide, Newsom’s constant Trump bashing burned bridges with Congress.

While families still live in tents, Newsom committed just $101 million more for rebuilding in early July. That tiny amount won’t replace the 12,000 structures destroyed. It’s a drop in the bucket compared to what’s needed.

Trump’s bill includes tax cuts for hardworking Americans and spending reforms. Newsom calls that “ripping care from cancer patients.” His over-the-top rhetoric solves nothing for fire victims waiting on real help.

Every minute Newsom spends demonizing Republicans is time stolen from wildfire recovery. He should be negotiating with Congress every day until California gets our disaster funding.

Californians deserve a governor who puts their needs before his Trump hatred. Newsom’s TDS blinds him to his real job: bringing federal relief to rebuild our state.
