Mexico’s government slapped a warning on Florida travel for its citizens, claiming a new immigration detention center makes the state dangerous. Retired Border Patrol Chief Chris Clem called the move “ridiculous” during a Fox News interview, saying Mexico has no right to lecture on safety when their own cities are ruled by cartels.
While Mexico tells its people to avoid sun-kissed Florida beaches, the U.S. State Department warns Americans to steer clear of several Mexican states plagued by violence and kidnappings. High-risk areas like Baja California Sur and Zacatecas face “Do Not Travel” alerts due to gang activity and unsolved crimes.
The hypocrisy doesn’t stop there. Mexico objects to “Alligator Alcatraz,” a new deportation program targeting illegal immigrants using Florida-based flights. Clem pointed out that Mexico couldn’t even secure its own border with Belize, let alone tell Americans how to enforce our laws.
Cartels terrorize Mexico’s tourist hotspots like Cabo San Lucas, where U.S. travelers face armed robberies and threats. Yet Mexico’s government acts appalled when the U.S. protects its own citizens through stronger immigration enforcement. This borderless rhetoric isn’t convincing anyone who’s witnessed the crisis firsthand.
Remain vigilant during summer trips to Mexico. Use taxis instead of public transit, avoid displaying wealth, and stick to well-known areas. Mexico’s travel advisory for Florida highlights their cluelessness about genuine security threats – like the ones they still haven’t fixed at home.
Clem reminded viewers of the 2014 migrant surge when minors flooded the southern border, overwhelming detention centers. He said Mexico’s latest tantrum distracts from their failure to police their own territory.
The U.S. must reject Mexico’s lectures and double down on border security. Build walls, deploy patrols, and deport illegal aliens without apology. Our safety matters more than Mexico’s political posturing.
This double standard won’t fool Americans. We know the real danger lies in uncontrolled migration, not a Florida detention center. Stand strong, secure the border, and let Mexico fix its own problems before judging ours.
