Malliotakis Slams Democrats for Playing Politics During Shutdown Crisis

Nicole Malliotakis didn’t mince words Wednesday on Wake Up America when she called out Democrat politicians for putting politics over people and “spreading lies” about the causes of the government shutdown. Her warning was plain: stop the politically convenient spin and join Republicans in passing a clean funding bill to get paychecks flowing and services restored.

The shutdown that took effect on October 1, 2025, is the direct result of a partisan standoff in the Senate after Democrats refused to back a stopgap funding measure, leaving federal funding to lapse at midnight. Rather than negotiate in good faith, Democratic leadership doubled down and the result is the same kind of paralysis hardworking Americans have seen too many times in Washington.

Make no mistake about what Democrats demanded: special carve-outs and expansions of costly entitlement programs as the price of keeping government open, not sensible spending reforms. Their posture — embracing a shutdown fight as a political weapon — shows a party more interested in preserving and expanding government control than in protecting families and federal workers.

Malliotakis’ appeal was a simple one for a practical Congress: lawmakers should stop the theatrics and back a clean continuing resolution so Americans aren’t punished by Washington’s games. Republicans have offered stopgap solutions; Democrats have chosen posture over compromise, and that choice is why Main Street is the one paying the price.

Worse still, taxpayers have watched federal agencies and partisan actors try to rewrite the script and shift blame with alarmingly political messaging — a tactic that smells of using government resources for political ends. If Democrats are so confident in their narrative, they should put forward a real alternative instead of running interference and blaming others while families wait for answers.

Patriots know the score: smaller, more accountable government is better for the people who actually produce and provide, while grandstanding career politicians only deliver chaos. Republicans have shown they will fight for fiscal sanity and border security; now Democrats must decide whether they will govern or keep weaponizing essential services for partisan points.

This isn’t a game for those who feed their children, clock in at a federal office, or rely on steady government services; this is about responsibility and common sense. Americans should demand their representatives stop the spin, get back to work, and do the one thing voters elected them to do: keep the lights on and the nation running.
