Two innocent children were gunned down while praying in a Minneapolis church this week. Eight-year-old and ten-year-old kids were sitting in pews during Mass when a gunman opened fire through the windows. This was not just another random shooting – this was a targeted attack on Catholics during worship.
The FBI is calling this domestic terrorism and an anti-Catholic hate crime. Federal investigators found the shooter had marked weapons with hateful phrases and references to other mass killers. This was a planned assault on people of faith, pure and simple.
The shooter was Robin Westman, a 23-year-old who was born Robert but legally changed names to identify as female. Westman fired dozens of rounds from multiple weapons before taking their own life. The attack happened during a special Mass celebrating the start of the school year.
Here is where it gets really bad. Catholic groups had asked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for security funding to protect their churches and schools. Walz said no and rejected their requests. Now two children are dead and 17 others are hurt because this liberal governor ignored the safety of Catholic families.
Instead of admitting his failure, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey is already pushing gun control talking points. Frey even warned people not to “villainize the transgender community” over this attack. The bodies were not even cold and liberals were already making excuses and changing the subject.
These children were literally on their knees praying when the shooting started. They were celebrating the beginning of a new school year at their Catholic school. Their parents trusted that church would be a safe place for their kids to learn about God and grow in faith.
The mainstream media is barely covering the anti-Catholic angle of this story. They do not want Americans to know that Christians are being targeted for their beliefs right here at home. This shooting proves that the war on faith is real and deadly.
Governor Walz and other liberal politicians have blood on their hands. They refused to protect Catholic families and now children are dead. Americans need leaders who will stand up for religious freedom and actually keep our kids safe instead of playing politics with their lives.
