A Massachusetts judge is finally facing accountability for her shocking decision to help an illegal immigrant escape from ICE agents. Judge Shelley Joseph had a hearing Monday before the Massachusetts Commission on Judicial Conduct for her disgraceful actions back in 2018. This is what happens when liberal judges put their personal politics above the rule of law.
The liberal judge allegedly allowed Jose Medina-Perez, an illegal immigrant from the Dominican Republic, to sneak out the courthouse’s back door. ICE agents were waiting in the lobby to detain this criminal alien. Joseph knew exactly what she was doing when she helped this illegal immigrant avoid deportation.
Court records show Judge Joseph ordered the courtroom recorder turned off for 52 seconds during this shameful incident. When the recording resumed, she instructed that the illegal alien be taken downstairs, away from waiting ICE officers. This wasn’t an accident or misunderstanding – it was a deliberate plan to undermine federal immigration enforcement.
The Trump administration rightfully charged Joseph with obstruction of justice in 2019. But when Biden took over, his soft-on-immigration administration dropped the criminal charges. They let her off the hook as long as she agreed to this current misconduct hearing.
Former trial court officer Wesley MacGregor was also charged for his role in this scheme. He allegedly used his security card to open the back door so the illegal alien could escape. These government employees conspired against the hardworking ICE agents who were just doing their jobs to keep America safe.
Medina-Perez was no innocent victim in this case. He was facing drug charges and had a warrant from Pennsylvania. Even though he wasn’t the person on the Pennsylvania warrant, he was still in our country illegally and should have been detained by ICE.
Special counsel Judith Fabricant rightly said this case is about the integrity of our justice system. When judges like Shelley Joseph put their liberal sanctuary city values ahead of federal law, they make a mockery of justice. They endanger American citizens by returning criminals to our streets instead of deporting them.
Our country cannot survive when activist judges take the law into their own hands. This judge’s actions show the dangerous impact of liberal policies on public safety. It’s time for judges to uphold the law rather than help illegal immigrants escape justice.
