A young Ukrainian refugee who came to America seeking safety and freedom is dead today because of failed liberal policies that put criminals first. Iryna Zarutska was only 23 years old when a repeat violent offender named Decarlos Brown brutally stabbed her to death on a Charlotte light rail train. This innocent woman survived war in her homeland only to be murdered by a career criminal who should have been locked up long ago.
Attorney General Pam Bondi is absolutely right when she says this horrific murder happened because of soft-on-crime policies. Brown was a repeat violent offender who had no business walking free on our streets. If liberal prosecutors and judges had done their jobs and kept this dangerous criminal behind bars, Iryna would still be alive today.
The surveillance video of this attack is absolutely sickening and shows the brutal reality of what happens when we coddle criminals. Brown attacked this young woman without any reason or warning in broad daylight on public transportation. Every American should be outraged that our cities have become hunting grounds for violent predators.
This is exactly what President Trump warned us would happen when Democrats refuse to enforce our laws. Liberal mayors and prosecutors have turned our once-safe cities into war zones where law-abiding citizens live in fear. Iryna came here to escape violence and found it waiting for her because we failed to protect our own people.
Thank God we finally have real leaders like Attorney General Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel who understand that criminals belong in prison. They are seeking federal charges that could put this monster on death row where he belongs. This is what justice looks like when patriots are in charge instead of bleeding-heart liberals.
The blood of innocent victims like Iryna is on the hands of every Democrat who has pushed these disastrous soft-on-crime policies. They have chosen to protect criminals over families, felons over children, and murderers over mothers and daughters. Their failed experiment with criminal justice reform has been paid for with innocent blood.
Iryna Zarutska came to America believing in the promise of safety and opportunity that our great nation offers. Instead she found a justice system that had been corrupted by liberal ideology that treats criminals as victims. She deserved better from the country she chose to call home.
Every American must demand that our elected officials put public safety first and criminal coddling last. We need more prosecutors like Pam Bondi who will throw the book at violent criminals and fewer liberal district attorneys who treat murder like a parking ticket.
