Israel’s Noy Leyb Praises Trump’s Role in Hostage Negotiations

IDF reservist Noy Leyb praised President Donald Trump and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff during a recent appearance on Newsmax’s “National Report,” calling their efforts to free hostages “a blessing.” Leyb emphasized gratitude for strong American leadership, saying without Trump’s push, the release of hostages like Edan Alexander might still be stalled. The reservist’s emotional comments highlight growing appreciation for the administration’s proactive role in Gaza negotiations.

Alexander, the final American captive in Gaza, was freed Sunday after months of Trump-backed diplomatic pressure. Hamas agreed to release him as part of a broader push for ceasefire talks and humanitarian aid. Leyb credited Trump’s team for “standing strong” when Israel’s government hesitated, echoing criticism from Witkoff that Netanyahu’s administration risks prolonging the war.

Trump’s upcoming Middle East visit—though not including Israel—has sparked optimism for a regional deal. Saudi Arabia reportedly plans to propose a package that includes creating a demilitarized Palestinian state, ending hostilities in Gaza, and normalizing ties between Israel and Arab nations. Witkoff stressed this could be Hamas’ “last chance” to accept terms before losing international leverage.

Witkoff faced criticism for bluntly stating Israel is elongating the conflict, but Leyb defended the envoy’s resolve. “We need leaders who won’t back down,” Leyb said, contrasting Trump’s approach with perceived weakness from prior administrations. The reservist warned internal Israeli divisions—like debates over Gaza strategies—weaken their position and embolden Hamas.

Negotiations in Doha this week could determine the war’s future. Israel sent a delegation to Qatar on Tuesday, signaling willingness to engage under the Witkoff framework. Hamas leaders claim they’re ready to “immediately commence” talks for a long-term ceasefire, including prisoner exchanges and transferring Gaza governance to a neutral authority.

Trump’s team remains committed to freeing all remaining hostages, prioritizing “no deals without Americans.” Witkoff reassured families that progress is possible despite challenges, noting most captives were released through diplomacy. Leyb called this “proof our allies matter,” urging unity among Israelis to avoid giving Hamas tactical advantages.

The proposed Saudi-backed deal faces hurdles, including Hamas’ demands for border control and aid access. However, Riyadh claims Trump’s support is critical to ending the war. Leyb emphasized that liberating hostages and securing peace requires “strong allies like America,” dismissing critics who claim compromise with terrorists is inevitable.

Leyb closed his remarks by thanking Newsmax for amplifying the hostages’ plight and urging viewers to “stand with Israel.” He reiterated trust in Trump and Witkoff, saying their relentless focus on hostages reflects core American values. The reservist’s impassioned defense of the administration served as a rallying cry for conservatives backing bold foreign policy.
