Israel’s brave soldiers brought home two more heroes this week after nearly two years of fighting Hamas terrorists in Gaza. The Israel Defense Forces recovered the body of Ilan Weiss, a patriot who served as deputy head of emergency response at Kibbutz Be’eri. His wife and daughter were kidnapped by these savage terrorists but thankfully made it home alive during a ceasefire in November 2023.
The IDF also recovered another hostage’s remains, though officials are still working to identify this victim of Hamas brutality. These recoveries show that Israel will never abandon its people, no matter how long it takes or how dangerous the mission becomes. After 692 days of waiting and uncertainty, the Weiss family finally has closure.
While Israel fights to save innocent lives, some people at home are protesting and demanding weak deals with terrorists. These protesters don’t understand that you cannot negotiate with murderers who hide behind women and children. Hamas started this war on October 7th by slaughtering innocent Israelis, and they must face the full consequences of their evil actions.
The IDF has now declared Gaza City a combat zone as they expand operations to crush Hamas once and for all. This is exactly what needs to happen when dealing with terrorist organizations that use hospitals and schools as human shields. Prime Minister Netanyahu refuses to back down, despite pressure from protesters who want to surrender to terrorists.
President Trump has stayed focused on what comes after the fighting ends, showing real leadership during this crisis. Unlike weak politicians who cave to terrorist demands, Trump understands that strength is the only language these murderers understand. America stands with our greatest ally in the Middle East as they defend civilization against barbarism.
Meanwhile, France, Britain, and Germany are finally getting tough on Iran’s nuclear program by bringing back sanctions. Iran has been cheating on nuclear deals while funding Hamas terrorists and threatening Israel’s existence. These European countries should have acted sooner, but better late than never when dealing with the world’s biggest sponsor of terrorism.
The IDF says they will keep fighting until every hostage comes home and Hamas is completely destroyed. This is the right approach when facing an enemy that celebrates the murder of innocent people. Israel has shown incredible restraint for nearly two years while fighting an enemy that hides among civilians.
With 48 hostages still trapped in Gaza, Israel cannot afford to show weakness now. Every day these brave soldiers risk their lives to bring their people home while the world watches. This is what real courage looks like when facing down evil in our time.
