A shocking controversy has erupted after Illinois Democrat Rep. Delia Ramirez told a crowd she is “a proud Guatemalan before I’m an American.” The outrageous comment has patriots across the nation demanding answers. How can someone sworn to serve America put another country first?
New York Rep. Nicole Malliotakis fired back with the truth that millions of Americans are thinking. She said if Ramirez feels that way about Guatemala, then maybe she should self-deport. Malliotakis is absolutely right to call out this anti-American sentiment.
Ramirez was born in Chicago but clearly her heart lies elsewhere. She describes herself as “both Chapina and American” but her own words prove where her real loyalty stands. When you put Guatemala before America, you have no business representing American citizens in Congress.
The Department of Homeland Security even shared a powerful quote from President Theodore Roosevelt about this exact problem. Roosevelt warned there is no room for “hyphenated Americanism” and that our allegiance must be purely to the United States. Those words ring truer today than ever before.
Republican Rep. Andy Ogles took it even further, calling for Ramirez to be stripped of citizenship and deported. He also demanded she be kicked off the Homeland Security Committee immediately. How can someone who puts Guatemala first be trusted with America’s security?
This is exactly what’s wrong with today’s Democrat Party. They care more about their foreign heritage than the country that gave them everything. Real Americans put America first, period. There’s no room for divided loyalties in the halls of Congress.
Ramirez tried to defend herself by claiming she was honoring her “diverse heritage.” But that’s just liberal double-talk for putting America second. You can respect your family’s history without declaring loyalty to another nation over your own.
Every patriotic American should thank Rep. Malliotakis for speaking the truth. If these Democrats love other countries more than America, they should pack their bags and leave. We need representatives who bleed red, white, and blue, not green and white for Guatemala.
