Greg Kelly hit the nail on the head this week when he warned that Democrats, the reactionary coastal media, and activist special interest groups have spent years demonizing Immigration and Customs Enforcement — and now American agents and their families are paying the price. His interview with border czar Tom Homan laid out how doxxing, threats, and a rising tally of assaults have pushed ICE officers into hiding and forced some to wear masks just to go to work. This isn’t political theater; it’s a national security problem unfolding on our streets.
The Department of Homeland Security has sounded the alarm with hard numbers, saying assaults on ICE officers have surged — a staggering 413 percent increase that coincides with the left’s steady campaign to paint federal immigration enforcers as villains. When a federal agency charged with protecting Americans warns that rhetoric is translating into real-world violence, sane leaders should listen and act. Instead, too many in power choose applause lines over the safety of the people who enforce our laws.
In Los Angeles and other cities we’ve seen the consequences: mobs surrounding federal facilities, vandalism, and reports that local police were slow to respond while federal officers were under siege. DHS publicly linked those riots and attacks to the sustained vilification coming from prominent Democrats and media figures, calling for an immediate tone-down of the poisonous rhetoric. This is not a dispute about policy nuance — it’s a demand for common decency and the basic right of law enforcement to do their job without being hunted.
Worse, organized activists have taken their campaign beyond protests into stalking and doxxing, posting photos, addresses, and personal details of officers — behavior that crosses into criminal intimidation and endangers children and spouses. Conservatives have warned about this escalation for months, and now the evidence is in: targeted harassment campaigns aimed at federal agents are flourishing and must be prosecuted to the fullest extent. The people doing the doxxing want to silence enforcement through fear, and that is unacceptable in a free society.
Meanwhile, political grandstanding from some on the left — from calls to unmask agents to bills trying to restrict federal officers’ protective measures — has only emboldened extremists who see law enforcement as an enemy. Attempts to micromanage or humiliate federal agents while criminal networks and violent repeat offenders swell at the border shows who truly lacks courage: the politicians who put virtue signaling ahead of public safety. The choice is clear to every American who values law and order.
If we care about our communities, we should stand with the men and women who put their lives on the line enforcing our laws, not the mobs demanding chaos. Elected officials who fan the flames of hatred against ICE must be held accountable, and the press that cheered them on should be called out for the real-world carnage their narratives have produced. Hardworking Americans want secure streets, secure borders, and respect for those who enforce the law; it’s time the country returns to common sense and gives our officers the support they deserve.
