ICE Chief Exposes Sanctuary Cities as Threat to Public Safety

Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons went straight at the heart of the left’s sanctuary-city fantasy Sunday, telling Fox viewers that local defiance is forcing federal agents into the streets instead of allowing normal judicial processes to work. Lyons made it plain: if local law enforcement would simply hand over suspects with immigration issues, ICE wouldn’t need to surge personnel into these cities.

Lyons reminded the country that ICE’s mission is focused on criminals — he said roughly 70 percent of recent arrests involved people with convictions, pending charges, or deportation orders — and that the agency is concentrating on those who have been lawfully ordered removed. That’s not cruelty; it’s common-sense enforcement of laws Congress already passed, and it’s what every community deserves: protection from violent offenders, not sanctuaries for them.

What’s unfolding in Minneapolis is the predictable result of pandering to political theater instead of public safety. The city has become a hotspot after a deadly encounter involving federal agents, and the federal response has ballooned as officials try to secure operations and arrests in the face of obstruction and organized interference. Local politicians who cheer on demonstrators and block cooperation are not bravely defending civil liberties — they are letting dangerous people roam free.

Americans have watched for years as woke politicians and activist prosecutors prioritize ideology over safety, and now regular citizens are paying the price. Housing criminals under the banner of “compassion” is not compassion for victims or law-abiding families; it’s a political posture that sacrifices public safety for headlines. It’s past time to call out the cowardice of officials who would rather virtue-signal than do their jobs.

We should be thanking the men and women of ICE who put themselves in harm’s way to remove violent predators from our streets — not letting them be scapegoated for the chaos caused by sanctuary policies. These officers are carrying out a law-enforcement mission, and they deserve every resource and legal backing to do it without being hamstrung by local politics or mob tactics.

If local leaders keep playing political games, the federal government will rightly take stronger steps to enforce the law and protect citizens — including deploying the personnel necessary to get the job done. The alternative is a spiral of lawlessness where the loudest protesters set policy, and hardworking Americans pay with their safety and tax dollars.

Hardworking patriots don’t want drama; they want order, safety, and accountability. Tell your elected officials: stop abetting criminals, stop the sanctuary theater, and support the rule of law that keeps neighborhoods safe. America is better than the woke chaos machine, and it’s time our leaders started acting like it.
