Greg Gutfeld walked into enemy territory Thursday night and showed America what real class looks like. The Fox News star appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show and proved that conservatives can take the high road even when liberals refuse to do the same.
The two hosts shared an absolutely wild story about their first meeting 15 years ago at some shady underground bar in New York City. Both men were completely wasted and ended up wrestling on the floor like a couple of frat boys. Gutfeld described Fallon as tackling him “like a giant golden retriever” which had the audience cracking up.
What happened next was something you rarely see on late-night television anymore. Instead of turning the conversation into another Trump-bashing session, both men kept things friendly and fun. They talked about old times and avoided the nasty political attacks that have poisoned so much of our entertainment.
This stands in sharp contrast to how most liberal hosts treat conservative guests. Usually they ambush them with gotcha questions and try to make them look stupid. But Gutfeld handled himself like the pro he is and showed that Fox News personalities can win over any crowd with humor and charm.
Gutfeld was there to promote his new game show where contestants get locked away from society for months. When they come back, they have to figure out which crazy headlines are real and which ones are fake. In today’s upside-down world, that sounds like the perfect game show for our times.
This appearance comes at a time when President Trump has been warning that liberal late-night hosts might be next on the chopping block. Stephen Colbert just got canceled and Trump has suggested that Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel should watch their backs. Maybe that’s why Fallon was being so nice to Gutfeld.
Smart conservatives know that we need to fight the culture war on every front including entertainment. Gutfeld showing up on NBC and being his usual hilarious self is exactly how we win hearts and minds. He proved that conservative comedy can compete with anyone when given a fair shot.
The real lesson here is that Americans are hungry for entertainment that brings us together instead of driving us apart. Gutfeld and Fallon gave viewers a break from the usual political hatred and reminded us that we can still laugh together as Americans.
