Tensions exploded in Congress as Republican leaders confronted big-city mayors over their dangerous sanctuary city policies. The showdown showed how liberal politicians care more about protecting illegal immigrants than keeping Americans safe.
House Oversight Chairman James Comer ripped the mayors of New York, Boston, Chicago, and Denver for letting criminals hide in their cities. “These policies only create sanctuaries for criminals,” Comer said. He warned that innocent people are dying because mayors ignore immigration laws.
Democrat Rep. Ayanna Pressley caused chaos by shouting over Comer. She tried pushing fake news stories claiming immigrants commit less crime than Americans. Comer shut her down hard. “We’re not going to put up with your games to get on TV!” he yelled. Pressley kept screaming about her “rights” instead of answering for her city’s lawless policies.
The Democrat mayors made weak excuses. Boston’s Michelle Wu claimed tough immigration enforcement “scares” people. New York’s Eric Adams admitted he can’t control who enters the country but still blocks federal agents. These leaders would rather coddle illegal aliens than work with President Trump to secure our borders.
Facts don’t lie. In Chicago, an illegal immigrant freed under sanctuary rules later killed a man. Denver shelters thousands of illegals while veterans sleep on streets. These cities take taxpayer money but spit on America’s laws.
President Trump has already slashed illegal border crossings by 94% in weeks. Now Congress must finish the job. Not one dime should go to cities that harbor criminals. Let them pay for their own messes instead of draining hardworking Americans’ wallets.
The hearing proved Democrats care more about woke politics than public safety. While Trump cleans up the border crisis, radical leftists fight to keep streets dangerous. November can’t come soon enough to vote out these open-border extremists.
Sanctuary cities are a ticking time bomb. Every day they defy federal law puts more lives at risk. It’s time to stand with President Trump and take back our neighborhoods from this madness.
