A beautiful young woman came to America seeking safety from war. Instead, she found death on a train in Charlotte because our justice system has failed us all. Iryna Zarutska, just 23 years old, was brutally stabbed in the neck by a career criminal who should have been locked up long ago.
The killer, Decarlos Brown Jr., had a rap sheet longer than a grocery list. He was convicted of armed robbery, breaking and entering, and assault. His own mother tried to have him committed for mental health issues earlier this year. Yet somehow, this dangerous predator was walking free on our streets.
This is what happens when liberal politicians put criminals first and victims last. Brown was fare-jumping when he decided to murder an innocent girl who was just trying to get home from work. She had fled a war zone in Ukraine only to die because America’s cities have become war zones too.
Where is the outrage from the mainstream media? If the races were reversed, this story would be front page news for weeks. Instead, they barely mention it because it doesn’t fit their narrative. They care more about protecting criminals than protecting innocent Americans.
Iryna dreamed of becoming a veterinary assistant and helping animals. She loved art and had a bright smile that neighbors remember fondly. Now she’s dead because soft-on-crime prosecutors and judges keep releasing dangerous felons back onto our streets.
This tragedy could have been prevented with common sense. One violent criminal behind bars means countless innocent lives saved. But liberals would rather talk about rehabilitation than protect law-abiding citizens from predators.
Federal prosecutors finally stepped in because people are too scared to ride public transportation. That’s not the America our founders envisioned. That’s the America that weak leadership has created through failed policies.
It’s time to put criminals in jail and keep them there. Enough excuses, enough second chances for violent offenders. Americans deserve to feel safe in their own communities, and that starts with leaders who actually care about victims instead of criminals.
