Elon Musk’s Team Slashes Government Waste, Saves Billions

President Donald Trump’s DOGE team, led by billionaire Elon Musk, is slashing government waste and pushing common-sense reforms. Their goal? To save taxpayer dollars and make Washington work for Americans again. Critics call it extreme, but supporters say it’s long overdue.

The DOGE team has axed over $1 billion a day by cutting wasteful programs. Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) contracts were first on the chopping block. So far, they’ve canceled 85 DEI deals worth $1 billion. Musk calls these programs “distractions” that hurt efficiency. Millions more were saved by ending useless leases and bloated consulting deals.

Florida Congressman Aaron Bean is leading the charge in Congress. His DOGE Caucus just introduced bills to force lawmakers to cut their own office budgets. “If we’re asking agencies to tighten their belts, Congress should too,” Bean said. The “Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is Act” would trim $100,000 from every lawmaker’s yearly spending.

Elon Musk’s team is also targeting foreign aid. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is under fire for wasting cash overseas. Employees were sent home, and the agency could merge with the State Department. “We’re prioritizing America first,” Musk said. Critics claim this hurts global alliances, but Trump officials argue it stops misuse of taxpayer dollars.

Private businesses are copying DOGE’s playbook. Companies are cutting costs and using AI to streamline supply chains. Tariffs and inflation are squeezing profits, so efficiency is key. DOGE’s success proves government can act like a business—trim fat, focus on results, and ignore political correctness.

Democrats aren’t happy. Some joined Bean’s caucus but now worry Musk is sidelining Congress. “He doesn’t think Congress is necessary,” said Florida Democrat Jared Moskowitz. Others call DOGE’s cuts “reckless.” But polls show most Americans support cracking down on waste.

DOGE’s biggest move? A new bill to make the department permanent. The DOGE Act, backed by Bean and Rep. Cory Mills, would lock in Trump’s reforms. They’ve already saved $115 billion—$700 per taxpayer. Mills highlighted an $8 million Biden-era study on transgender mice as proof of past excess.

Musk vows this is just the start. “It’s a revolution,” he said. With debt topping $36 trillion, conservatives say there’s no time to waste. Love it or hate it, DOGE is shaking up Washington—and taxpayers are finally getting a voice.
