Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, a professional wrestler and Hollywood action hero, has announced that he would not run for president despite prior hints that he could. He cites "time with his family" as the reason for his decision.
Johnson has long hinted that he might run for president. In fact, he stated that being president was "within my skill set" back in 2017. Last year, a poll that indicated he would be a well-liked candidate gave him encouragement.
Johnson declared he would "humbly and respectfully stand up, listen, and learn" about what it would take to compete for president and then occupy the White House as the head of the free world right after the 2021 election.
Johnson stated in June of last year, "I love our country to the core and I'm endlessly grateful for the opportunities I've had here, as a half-Black, half-Samoan kid being able to work my ass off knowing tenacity unlocks doors. “In a lot of ways, I’m indebted to our great country for it.”
But based on his recent declaration that a presidential bid is off, it appears that the Jumanji actor is done learning and paying attention.
The 50-year-old said in a forthcoming interview with CBS Sunday Morning that "yes, it is off the table.''

Johnson continued, "I love our country and everyone in it because of family. I also enjoy being a daddy.
He continued, "I know what it was like to be on the road and be so busy that I was absent for a lot of years when my first daughter [was] growing up. So, my number one priority is my daughters. Sure, CEO sounds great but the number one thing I want to be is a daddy. That’s it.”
Not to mention that if he were to win two terms as president, his wealthy and hectic film career would be placed on pause for at least five years.
Early in his wrestling career, Johnson made a point of portraying himself as a steadfast conservative. But as time went on and he started earning one of Hollywood's highest salaries, he started to lean more and more to the left. Additionally, he supported Kamala Harris and Joe Biden, the most left-leaning presidential ticket in history, during the 2020 election.
