Disney’s new “Snow White” movie is facing heavy criticism from conservatives who say the studio has lost touch with its audience. Former Disney actress Caroline Sunshine, now a conservative commentator, slammed the remake as “liberal feminism garbage” during a recent Newsmax interview. She argued that Disney’s push for modern political messages is alienating families who want classic storytelling.
Rachel Zegler, the actress playing Snow White, sparked outrage by mocking the original 1937 film. She called the love story “weird” and said her version would focus on female leadership instead of romance. Fans accused her of disrespecting the original’s legacy and questioned why she took the role if she disliked the story so much.
The film’s redesign of the seven dwarfs also caused backlash. Actor Peter Dinklage, who has dwarfism, criticized Disney for keeping outdated stereotypes while pretending to be progressive. The studio replaced the dwarfs with computer-generated characters of mixed genders and heights, angering little people who lost potential acting roles.
Disney delayed the movie by a year and scaled back its premiere, signaling low confidence in its success. Critics called the final product “mediocre” and blamed its focus on political messaging over quality storytelling. Some insiders said the studio panicked over negative reactions to early footage of the cartoonish CGI creatures.
Zegler added fuel to the fire with her off-screen political remarks. She posted “Free Palestine” online and told Trump supporters they “deserve no peace” after the 2024 election. The movie’s stars also clashed over real-world politics. Gal Gadot, who plays the Evil Queen, openly supports Israel’s military actions, while Zegler backs Palestine. Their opposing views created tension, with protesters confronting Gadot at her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony days before the film’s release.
Conservative media company The Daily Wire announced its own “Snow White” adaptation to counter Disney’s version, promising to uphold “timeless values.” This move highlights growing frustration with Hollywood’s shift toward what critics call “woke” storytelling. Many families say they’re tired of lectures in kids’ movies.
Box office predictions are bleak for Disney’s remake, with experts calling it a “perfect storm of mismanagement.” Caroline Sunshine and other conservatives say Disney’s focus on politics over entertainment has damaged its brand.
