Disney’s Snow White Faces Backlash: Are Woke Politics Ruining Classics?

Disney’s new “Snow White” remake is sparking outrage as critics say the studio keeps pushing its agenda instead of listening to families. The movie, set to release this month, has faced backlash for changing the classic story. Lead actress Rachel Zegler called the 1937 original “extremely dated” and said her Snow White won’t dream about love. Instead, she’ll focus on becoming a leader. Many fans are upset, saying Disney cares more about being woke than honoring the story’s roots.

The studio already scaled back the movie’s big premiere. Instead of a flashy Hollywood event, Disney is holding a small screening. This comes after years of drama around the film. Zegler, the first Latina Snow White, made headlines for mocking the original prince and romance. She also slammed Trump supporters online in the past. Critics say Disney picked her to push diversity over staying true to the character.

The movie also replaced the seven dwarfs with “magical creatures” after actor Peter Dinklage called the old story backward. Disney claimed they consulted with little people to avoid stereotypes. But fans say it’s another example of the studio erasing tradition. Kirk Cameron, the conservative actor and Christian activist, blasted Disney for ignoring parents. “When you go woke, you go broke,” he said. “They’re stripping truth and beauty from stories kids love.”

Cameron is fighting back with a new kids’ show called “Adventures with Iggy and Mr. Kirk.” He says it’s a faith-based alternative to woke programs. The show will teach Bible lessons and values like respecting life and free speech. Cameron teamed up with Brave Books, a company making Christian content for families. He wants to give parents a safe choice while Hollywood “keeps poisoning culture.”

Disney’s changes haven’t won over critics. The original “Snow White” was about good defeating evil, with a prince saving the day. The new version scraps the love story, calling it “weird.” Zegler’s Snow White wants power, not romance. Cameron says this misses the point. “The real story was about hope—like how Christ saves us,” he argued. “Now it’s just another lecture about ‘girl power.’”

Parents are getting tired of Disney’s politics. Cameron says trust is broken. “Why would families pay for movies that mock their values?” he asked. His show is crowdfunded so he can keep control. It mixes fun stories with guest stars and lessons on faith. He calls it a modern “Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood” but with more energy. “Kids need heroes, not activists,” he said.

Hollywood keeps losing money by ignoring regular Americans. Cameron says streaming services like Brave+ offer shows that respect faith and freedom. They include classics like “Bob the Builder” and new series like his. “Parents don’t have to settle for Disney’s nonsense,” he said. “Brave+ is safe, vetted, and actually teaches kids character.”

The “Snow White” drama shows a bigger divide. Disney thinks adding modern politics improves old stories. Critics say it ruins them. Cameron believes most Americans want entertainment that brings families together, not divides them. “This isn’t about hate,” he said. “It’s about saving what’s good and true for the next generation.” As Disney’s remake struggles, alternatives like Cameron’s could be the future.
