Democrats Stuck in the Past, Says Judge Candidate Patillo

Robert Patillo, a Democrat running for judge in Georgia, recently called out his own party for becoming “the party of geriatrics.” He says Democrats are stuck in the past with old leaders and no fresh ideas. Patillo claims the party focuses more on political drama than solving real problems like crime and court backlogs.

Patillo is challenging Judge Scott McAfee, who oversees former President Trump’s Georgia election case. Unlike many Democrats, Patillo calls himself a “conservative Democrat” who supports the Second Amendment and traditional values. He criticizes how his party’s leaders waste time on high-profile cases instead of fixing local issues.

The Democratic Party often claims to support change, but they keep electing the same tired politicians. Patillo’s campaign highlights this hypocrisy. He argues that Democrats ignore younger voices and everyday struggles. While Patillo pushes for reform, the party’s establishment rallies behind McAfee and District Attorney Fani Willis.

Willis, who is prosecuting Trump, faced scandals over her romance with a lawyer she hired for the case. Critics say this shows Democrats care more about power than ethics. A judge ruled Willis could stay on the Trump case but removed her boyfriend. Many voters see this as another example of messy politics.

The chaos around Willis has slowed Trump’s trial and hurt public trust. Patillo says Fulton County courts should focus on clearing backlogs, not political fights. Over 10 people died in the county jail last year waiting for trials. Yet Democrats keep pouring resources into targeting Trump instead of fixing the system.

Patillo’s message is simple: courts must serve the people, not political agendas. He wants faster trials and safer streets. But Democratic leaders seem obsessed with attacking Trump and protecting their own. This has left many voters tired of the drama.

Despite Patillo’s push for change, Judge McAfee won reelection easily. McAfee had support from both parties and big donors. This shows how hard it is for outsiders like Patillo to break through. The Democratic machine keeps old-guard leaders in power, blocking new ideas.

Conservatives argue this election proves their point. Democrats talk about progress but cling to aging leaders and broken systems. While Patillo offers a different path, his party refuses to evolve. For many, this election was a missed chance to turn the page—and a sign Democrats are too outdated to fix themselves.
