Republicans are firing back after Democrats’ chaotic response to President Trump’s first congressional address of his second term. Florida Congressman Byron Donalds blasted the opposition party for turning a solemn presidential speech into what he called “a bad episode of reality TV” that showcased their disrespect for American leadership.
Democrats repeatedly heckled President Trump during his speech, shouting over his plans to secure the border and rebuild America’s middle class. Donalds slammed their behavior as childish grandstanding that only helps China and Russia. “They’d rather protect open borders than American workers,” he said, noting Trump’s new tariffs forcing Mexico and Canada to crack down on fentanyl smuggling.
The congressman praised Trump’s “peace through strength” approach, contrasting it with what he called the weak leadership of past administrations. “Reagan would be rolling in his grave watching Democrats cozy up to dictators while attacking a president who actually puts America first,” Donalds stated. He emphasized that Trump’s tough trade policies are already bringing manufacturing jobs back to critical industries.
Border security dominated the address, with Trump vowing to finish building the wall and deport violent illegal immigrants. Donalds accused Democrats of deliberately causing border chaos to import future voters. “They want open borders to keep power – even if it means more drugs killing our kids,” he said, pointing to fentanyl deaths as proof of failed liberal policies.
While Trump outlined plans to slash regulations and cut taxes for working families, Democrats bizarrely accused him of favoring billionaires. Donalds laughed off these claims, reminding Americans that grocery prices and gas costs skyrocketed under Biden before Trump restored energy independence. “They lecture us about fairness while trying to raise taxes on hardworking Floridians,” he scoffed.
The Florida lawmaker saved his harshest criticism for Democrats’ antics during the Ukraine portion of the speech. When Trump demanded European nations pay their fair share for defense, Democrats erupted in applause – only to later call him “soft on Putin.” Donalds dismissed this as hypocritical theater, saying “Trump ended the Ukraine war while Biden profited from it.”
With Trump’s endorsement already secured for his likely gubernatorial run, Donalds positioned himself as the heir to Florida’s America First movement. He vowed to continue fighting woke corporations and illegal immigration if elected governor. “The choice is clear – protect our values or let Democrats turn Florida into California,” he warned.
As Democrats keep trying to impeach Trump over policy disagreements, Donalds said their desperation shows. “They can’t beat him at the ballot box so they throw tantrums instead,” he concluded. With the 2026 governor’s race heating up, this fiery response proves the Trump agenda remains Florida’s roadmap.
