Dave Ramsey Blasts Parents: You’re the Real Student Debt Problem

Dave Ramsey just dropped a truth bomb that every American parent needs to hear. The financial guru appeared on Fox News Sunday and delivered a message that cuts right to the heart of our nation’s massive student debt problem. We don’t have a student loan crisis, Ramsey declared, we have a parenting crisis.

The numbers are absolutely staggering and should make every taxpayer furious. Student debt in America has exploded to 1.8 trillion dollars as of 2025. That’s nearly triple what it was just 17 years ago. One third of borrowers now say the financial damage outweighs any benefits from their degree.

Ramsey is absolutely right to call out parents who have failed their kids. Too many moms and dads are letting teenagers sign their lives away without teaching them basic money sense first. These kids are walking into financial traps that will haunt them for decades. Where were the adults in the room when this was happening.

This is what happens when we abandon personal responsibility and let the government run wild. Instead of teaching our children to work hard and make smart choices, we’ve created a culture of easy money and participation trophies. Young Americans are being sold a lie that college debt is just part of growing up. It’s not, and it’s destroying lives.

The liberal education establishment loves this broken system because it keeps the money flowing into their pockets. They don’t care that hardworking families are being crushed under mountains of debt. They just want to keep pushing their overpriced degrees on kids who could make great livings in the trades or other careers.

Real parents teach their children that debt is dangerous and that there are many paths to success. They show them alternatives like trade schools, community colleges, and starting businesses. They don’t just hand over a blank check and hope for the best. That’s not parenting, that’s negligence.

Ramsey has spent his career helping people dig out of financial disasters, and he knows exactly what he’s talking about. His company even made a documentary called Borrowed Future that exposes how students are being targeted and exploited. This man went bankrupt himself as a young person, so he understands the pain.

It’s time for parents to step up and do their job before the government makes this crisis even worse. Stop letting your kids sign up for financial slavery just because everyone else is doing it. Teach them to think for themselves, work hard, and avoid debt like the plague it is.
