Liberal pundits and Democrat politicians are in full denial mode about the crime crisis destroying our nation’s capital. They keep telling Americans that Washington D.C. is safe, but the facts tell a very different story. These same people who live in gated communities want to gaslight hardworking families about what they can see with their own eyes.
The numbers don’t lie, even when Democrats do. In 2024, Washington D.C. had a murder rate of 27.3 per 100,000 people. That made it the fourth highest murder rate in the entire country. If D.C. were a state, it would have the worst murder rate in America.
Think about how far our capital has fallen under liberal leadership. Back in 2012, the murder rate was only 13.9 per 100,000 residents. That means the murder rate has nearly doubled under Democrat control. Our capital city is now more dangerous than cities like Atlanta and Chicago.
The crime wave goes far beyond just murders. There were over 29,000 total crimes reported in D.C. last year alone. This included more than 3,400 violent crimes and over 2,100 robberies. Motor vehicle theft hit over 5,100 cases, showing criminals run wild in our streets.
Even more disturbing is what’s happening to our children. The number of young people getting arrested has gone up every single year since 2020. Many of these kids are repeat offenders who keep committing violent crimes. Liberal policies have failed an entire generation of young Americans.
President Trump is absolutely right to take action on this crisis. While Democrats make excuses and downplay the danger, real leadership means protecting innocent Americans. The people of Washington D.C. deserve to feel safe in their own neighborhoods.
It’s profoundly stupid for anyone to pretend this isn’t a serious problem. Our nation’s capital should be a symbol of American strength and safety. Instead, it’s become a playground for criminals thanks to soft-on-crime Democrat policies.
The American people can see through the lies and spin from liberal media. They know that when Democrats run cities, crime goes up and families suffer. It’s time to restore law and order to our capital before more innocent lives are lost.
