Even liberal late-night host Stephen Colbert couldn’t ignore the stunning hypocrisy of Illinois Governor JB Pritzker this week. The Democrat governor got schooled on national television when Colbert showed him just how badly gerrymandered his own state really is.
Pritzker went on Colbert’s failing show to attack Texas Republicans for trying to redraw their congressional maps. But the comedy host pulled out maps of Illinois that looked like something a kindergartner drew with crayons. One district looked like a scorpion stinger snaking across the state in the most ridiculous way possible.
The whole thing started because Texas Democrats ran away from their jobs like scared children. They fled to other states to stop Republicans from doing what every state does during redistricting. Pritzker welcomed these runaway politicians with open arms, calling himself their protector.
But here’s the kicker. Illinois has some of the worst gerrymandered districts in the entire country. These maps are so twisted and weird that even Colbert had to call them out. The districts bend and curve in ways that make zero sense to anyone with a brain.
Pritzker tried to laugh it off by joking that kindergartners drew the maps. He called it his independent commission, which is rich coming from a guy whose state is controlled by Chicago machine politics. This is the same governor who thinks he can lecture other states about fair elections.
The truth is Democrats have been rigging maps for decades in states they control. They cry about gerrymandering when Republicans do it but stay silent about their own crooked district lines. It’s typical liberal do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do politics at its worst.
Texas Republicans are simply trying to win more seats through legal redistricting that happens every ten years. Meanwhile, Illinois Democrats have been playing these games for generations. They’ve turned their state into a one-party wasteland that drives out businesses and families every single day.
Even when a liberal comedian calls them out on national TV, Democrats like Pritzker just laugh it off. They think rules don’t apply to them because they believe they’re morally superior to the rest of us. This is exactly why Americans are sick of politicians who say one thing and do another.
