Coast Guard, Florida Firemen Rescue 2 People, A Cat After Yacht Hits Jetties

When their yacht's engine failed and they were stranded on jetties in Mayport, Florida, on Thursday, two boaters and a cat needed to be rescued from the water. Rescue efforts were helped along by members of the United States Coast Guard and local firefighters.

It was said that the sailboat from Virginia, which measured 34 feet in length, was drifting aimlessly and taking on water as it continually banged into rocks near the entrance to Mayport.

The two individuals and their cat were rescued from the ship at four in the morning in what has been characterised as a "dramatic rescue" by members from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and the United States Coast Guard.

According to WJXT's reporting, fire officials said that the conditions were dangerous when they were attempting to rescue the people since a nor'easter was building offshore.

Despite the dangerous conditions, according to the authorities, nobody was wounded in the incident.
