More than 200 Christians were brutally slaughtered in Nigeria last week. Armed Fulani jihadists attacked the village of Yelwata while families slept. Men, women, and children were killed in their homes by terrorists who want to wipe out Christianity.
The victims were peaceful farmers and displaced families who had already fled violence. Yelwata was 98% Christian, with most being Catholic. These jihadists target Christians specifically because of their faith, burning churches and schools across Nigeria.
This massacre is just the latest in a wave of attacks. Across central Nigeria, terrorists struck four villages in three weeks: Aondoana, Edikwu-Ankpali, Akundu-Tyough, and now Yelwata. Each attack left dozens dead and whole communities destroyed by radical Islamists.
For 16 years, Nigeria’s Christians have faced genocide with over 60,000 murdered since 2009. More than 15 million have been forced from their homes and 18,000 churches burned. This year alone, 300 believers were killed in just three months while the world stays silent.
Nigerian leaders have failed to protect their own people. Police and soldiers do nothing as jihadists raid Christian villages. The government ignores this crisis while innocent families bury their dead. Weak leadership lets terrorists rule the countryside.
Global powers turn a blind eye to Christian persecution. The United Nations and Western media ignore this genocide. They care more about politics than protecting people of faith. This silence encourages the killers to keep attacking.
True patriots must stand with Nigeria’s Christians. America should cut aid to Nigeria until they stop these massacres. We must demand action to defend religious freedom everywhere. Protecting believers is a core conservative value.
Pray for the brave Christians facing terror every day. Spread the truth about this ignored genocide. Call your lawmakers to sanction Nigeria’s government. Freedom-loving people must fight for the persecuted before it’s too late.
