China just finished building a massive new export terminal in Brazil that will steal billions from American farmers. The Chinese state company COFCO spent $285 million on this facility near São Paulo to ship soybeans and corn straight to China. This is a direct attack on our agricultural heartland and another example of China playing the long game while America gets played.
American soybean and corn farmers are about to lose huge chunks of their business to Brazil. China can now import 14.5 million tons of crops per year from this one terminal alone. That means fewer sales for Iowa, Illinois, and Nebraska farmers who have fed their families for generations by selling to China.
The new terminal started operations earlier this year and tripled China’s export capacity from Brazil’s biggest port. China went from shipping 4.5 million tons to over 14 million tons from Santos alone. They are flooding the market with Brazilian crops while American farmers watch their profits disappear.
This is not just about trade deals. China is taking control of food production in our own backyard. They are building infrastructure across South America to cut America out of global food markets. Brazil is becoming China’s farm while American rural communities suffer.
President Trump put tariffs on Brazilian goods to protect American farmers. But these tariffs might actually push Brazil and China even closer together. China sees this as a chance to build stronger ties with Brazil and leave America behind in agricultural trade.
Every ton of soybeans China buys from Brazil is money taken directly from American farm families. Our farmers work harder than anyone in the world but they cannot compete when China builds entire ports to avoid buying American crops. This threatens small town America and our food independence.
China is not just buying crops from Brazil. They are investing in terminals, roads, and farms across South America to control the entire food supply chain. This gives them dangerous power over global food prices and puts America at a serious disadvantage.
America needs to wake up and fight back before it is too late. We must support our farmers with better trade deals and stop China from controlling food markets in our hemisphere. American agriculture built this country and we cannot let China destroy it with sneaky port deals and backdoor diplomacy.
