Canadians Fleeing U.S. Borders: Jobs and Businesses Pay the Price

Canadian visitors to the United States have dropped sharply for the sixth month in a row. This steep decline is hitting American businesses hard and costing jobs. The numbers show a clear pattern of our northern neighbors turning away from America.

Last month saw one-third fewer Canadians driving into the U.S. compared to June 2024. Travel by car has been especially weak, showing families and regular folks are staying home. This isn’t just a blip—it’s a half-year slide that keeps getting worse.

Political tensions and bad leadership in Washington are driving Canadians away. Our current leaders have damaged relations with Canada through unfair trade talk and constant arguments. Friendly neighbors don’t suddenly stop visiting without a good reason.

The tourism losses are crushing local economies across America. We’re staring down a projected $29 billion hit this year alone. That’s money that should be in the pockets of hotel staff, restaurant servers, and shop owners.

Remember when strong American leadership kept our borders welcoming? Past presidents understood that good neighbors mean good business. Today’s weak policies are turning friends into strangers and costing us dearly.

This isn’t just about Canada—visitors from Europe are down too. America’s reputation as a top destination is fading fast under poor management. The world watches how we treat our closest allies and votes with their vacation dollars.

We need policies that rebuild trust with Canada immediately. Fair trade deals and respectful diplomacy would bring visitors back. Our workers deserve leaders who fight for their jobs, not drive customers away.

It’s time to demand better leadership that protects American jobs. Standing strong with our allies means standing up for American workers. Our economy can’t afford six more months of these disastrous declines.
